Bali's Biggest Clean Up 2021

I've been inactive as I was occupied with my university applications...

Yesterday was Bali's Biggest Clean Up 2021 and I had a great time cleaning up the beach with my fellow friends and organizations.

Bali's Biggest Clean Up is a local annual cleanup event where anyone can organize the clean up. There will be many cleanup spots all around Bali on this day. It is such a nice day where you can get involved with environmental-friendly activities all day.

コロナに気をつけてお過ごしですか。

最近は大学のアプリケーションに追われていてなかなかブログの更新ができませんでした。

昨日はバリで年に一度の大きなクリーンアップ・イベント、Bali’s Biggest Clean Up に参加してきたので載せます。

Bali’s Biggest Clean Up は誰でもクリーンアップの企画をすることができます。

バリ全土でクリーンアップを同時に開催するのです。

朝から夕方まで一日中環境問題に触れることができる素敵な一日です。

Few days back, I was beyond honored to be invited to join the local annual event - Bali's Biggest Clean Up - by the organizer, One Island One Voice. As a member of Bye Bye Plastic Bags, I've been joining BBCU since two years ago and this was my third time joining this event.

数日前、とても光栄なことに Bali’s Biggest Clean Up を企画している One Island One Voice から個人的にオファーをいただいて参加することになりました。

私は数年前から Bye Bye Plastic Bags という One Island One Voice と同じファウンダーの環境団体のメンバーです。

2年前からこのイベントのコーディネーターを務めてきました。

今年で3回目の Bali's Biggest Clean Up になります。

We had a beach cleanup at Mertasari Beach again this year. Due to this COVID-19 pandemic, we were strictly advised to carry out this cleanup with a maximum number of 25 participants per area, taking safety precautions. That is the reason why I couldn't post the information on BBCU this year on be good, do good Instagram account. I hope that we can have beach cleanup very soon when this situation gets better.

今年もサヌールのメルタサリ・ビーチでビーチクリーンアップを行いました。

パンデミックということもあり、参加者は25人までと制限されていて感染対策を厳しくするように言われていました。

そのため、今年は去年みたいにInstagramにクリーンアップの情報を投稿することができませんでした。

コロナが収まり次第、大勢の人を集めてクリーンアップして環境問題への関心を高めたいと思っています。

Like always, yesterday's beach cleanup was heartbreaking and shocking. Even though we're in quarantine and avoid going out, the trash is the same amount as always.

Through joining BBCU, I've been able to see for myself the impact of single-use products on our environment and it's such a good opportunity to reflect on our day-to-day actions. I try to cut the amount of plastic at home to zero, but it incredibly difficult to make my home completely plastic-free. But I believe that small action and effort will be one step forward to sustainable lifestyle.

今までのように今回のクリーンアップもビーチが思ったより汚くてびっくりしました。パンデミックで外出を自粛しているからといってゴミが減ることはないと認識しました。

このイベントに参加して気付かされるのが使い捨てのゴミが環境への悪影響をもたらしていることです。

また、クリーンアップのあと自分の生活を見つめ直し、反省できるのもクリーンアップの良いことだと信じています。

私も生活の中でプラスチックをゼロにしたいのですが、完璧にゼロにすることは至難の技です。

しかし、一人の小さな努力や行動がコツコツ積もってサステイナブルな生活に少しずつ変わっていくんだろうなと思っています。
