Hi there! I haven't posted a blog post lately... Sorry for a long break from the previous blog post.

Did you know that September 25th was a Global Climate Strike Day for this year?

If you have seen the previous post on the Instagram, @begooddogood.bali, I believe you got an idea what kind of movement Climate Strike is.

Since the Global Climate Strike Day is over, let's reflect our knowledge on climate change.

I believe most of you have heard of a term "Climate Change" but do you know its cause and its effect on Earth?

今年の9月25日がグローバル気候変動マーチの日だとご存知でしたでしょうか？

私のインスタグラム、@begooddogood.bali　での一つ前の投稿に書いたようにグローバル気候変動マーチは世界中で行われる気候変動の危機を喚起する運動です。

グローバル気候変動マーチの日はもう過ぎてしまいましたが、常に私たちの気候変動についての知識を見直すことができます。

「気候変動」は誰もが聞いた言葉だと思いますが、具体的に何が原因でどのように地球に影響をもたらしているか、ご存知ですか？

Tahukah kalian bahwa 25 September adalah Hari Jeda Iklim secara Global tahun ini?

Jika kalian melihat postingan saya sebelumnya di Instagram, @begooddogood.bali, saya yakin kalian sudah tahu seperti apa gerakan Climate Strike atau jeda iklim ini.

Karena Hari Jeda Iklim Sedunia sudah berlalu, mari kita renungkan pengetahuan kita tentang perubahan iklim.

Saya yakin sebagian besar dari kalian pernah mendengar istilah "Perubahan Iklim" tetapi apakah kalian tahu penyebab dan pengaruhnya terhadap Bumi?

Mari berbicara tentang perubahan.

The two photos you just saw in the previous slide were taken in the exact same spot only by 65 years apart. Have you noticed the ice-filled view in 1940 has turned into a giant lake without any ice in 2005? Can you believe how all of the ice have disappeared in just 65 years??

この2枚の写真は全く同じ場所で65年を経て再び撮られた写真です。

1940年（左）には氷河がたくさん見えるのに2005年（右）の写真には氷河が消え、大きな湖のようになっています。

このようにわずか65年で氷河が全部消えてしまった事実を私たちは認識しなくてはいけません。

Dua foto yang baru saja kalian lihat di slide sebelumnya diambil di tempat yang sama persis namun berbeda waktu yang selisihnya 65 tahun. Apakah kalian memperhatikan pemandangan yang dipenuhi es pada tahun 1940 telah berubah menjadi danau raksasa tanpa es pada tahun 2005? Dapatkah kalian percaya bahwa semua es telah menghilang hanya dalam waktu 65 tahun ??

Climate change is a change in the normal environment conditions such as temperatures and rainfall, in a region over a long period of time.

It is said that Earth has gotten warmer in the past 50 years due to human activities especially burning fuels. It contributes in producing greenhouse gases and creates a greenhouse effect. This results in trapping more heat in Earth than usual, contributing to warmer Earth.

気候変動とは何か？

気候変動とは普段私たちが暮らしている環境（温度、降水量など）が長い時を経て変化することです。

現在、地球は私たちが出す廃棄物の影響で過去50年の間にだんだん暑くなってきていると言われています。

この廃棄物は温室効果ガスを作り、熱を地球に閉じ込めてしまい、地球温暖化を進めてしまいます。

Perubahan iklim adalah perubahan kondisi lingkungan normal seperti suhu dan curah hujan, di suatu wilayah dalam kurun waktu yang lama.

Dikatakan bahwa Bumi semakin memanas dalam 50 tahun terakhir karena aktivitas manusia terutama pembakaran bahan bakar. Hal ini berkontribusi dalam menghasilkan gas rumah kaca dan menciptakan efek rumah kaca. Hal ini juga menyebabkan suhu panas terjebak di Bumi yang akhirnya berkontribusi pada perubahan suhu Bumi.

1. Earth’s average surface temperature have increased about 1.14 degrees Celsius since the 19th century. It is said that it is caused by increased carbon dioxide and other emissions released into the atmosphere.

2. Ice sheets in the Greenland and Antarctic is decreasing in mass. NASA’s Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment show Greenland lost an average of 279 billion tons of ice per year, and Antarctica lost about 148 billion tons of ice per year between 1993 and 2019.

3. Satellite observations show that the amount of snow cover in the Northern Hemisphere has decreased over the past 50 years.

4. Global sea level has increased about 8 inches (around 20 cm) in the last century. The rate in the last 20 years is almost double that of last century and the rate seems to be accelerating every year.

5. The ocean acidification has increased about 30% since the beginning of industrial revolution. This is also caused by the result of humans emitting more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and those gases absorbed into the ocean.

気候変動が起きている証拠

1. 地球の平均温度が19世紀よりも1.14度高くなっています。原因は二酸化炭素などの有害物質が空気中に排出されていることだと言われています。

2. グリーンランドや南極大陸での氷河の量が減っています。1993年から2019年の間にグリーンランドは2790億トンの氷河、南極大陸では1480億トンの氷河が無くなってしまいました。

3. 衛星観測によると、北半球の雪の量が過去50年に渡って徐々に減っていると観測されました。

4. 20世紀よりも世界的に海面が20cm高くなっています。その変化のスピードは20世紀の2倍とも言われており、毎年スピードが早くなっています。

5. 産業革命以来、海洋酸性化が30％ほど高くなっています。これも二酸化炭素などの有害物質が空気中に排出されていることが原因だと言われています。

1. Suhu permukaan rata-rata bumi telah meningkat sekitar 1,14 derajat Celcius sejak abad ke-19. Dikatakan bahwa hal itu disebabkan oleh peningkatan karbon dioksida dan emisi lain yang dilepaskan ke atmosfer.

2. Lapisan es di Greenland dan Antartika mengalami penurunan massa. NASA’s Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment menunjukkan Greenland kehilangan rata-rata 279 miliar ton es per tahun, dan Antartika kehilangan sekitar 148 miliar ton es per tahun antara 1993 dan 2019.

3. Pengamatan satelit menunjukkan bahwa jumlah tutupan salju di belahan bumi utara telah menurun selama 50 tahun terakhir.

4. Permukaan laut global telah meningkat sekitar 8 inci (sekitar 20 cm) pada abad terakhir. Laju dalam 20 tahun terakhir hampir dua kali lipat laju abad lalu dan nampaknya terus meningkat setiap tahun.

5. Pengasaman laut telah meningkat sekitar 30% sejak awal revolusi industri. Ini juga disebabkan oleh manusia yang mengeluarkan lebih banyak karbon dioksida ke atmosfer dan gas-gas tersebut diserap ke laut.
